We like to call them our WashBar Ambassadors. So in no particular order of awesomeness (but posing with reindeer will always get you first on the list):
To try and sum Chloe up in a word or two is pretty hard to do. What comes to mind is ‘inspirational’. In reality she is a horse trainer, rider, writer and adventure junkie.
To say she has experienced a diverse range of the equestrian world is an understatement. Her journey to date has taken her from her Northland home training wild Kaimanawa horses, to the more formal arenas and stables of Europe, and on to some of the most remote and difficult places on earth – throughout Mongolia, Central Asia, the pyramids of Egypt and slums of India.
Back home in NZ, she spends most weekends out eventing with her team, led by Cor Jet. School holiday time is taken up running riding camps for kids covering everything from horsemanship, games and farm rides to preparing for top level competition.
But it isn’t all about having fun – there’s good work to be done as well. She’s a key part of the Kiwi Care Team, who provide education and first aid to working animals in need around the world.
In 2013 Chloe rode in the worlds’ longest and toughest horse race – the Mongol Derby – an unsupported journey 1000km across Mongolia on a string of semi-wild horses.
“One of the reasons I love WashBar is because of the places I go. Since 2012 I’ve been involved in offering veterinary aid as well as providing education to communities in developing countries that still rely on equines for work, transport and survival.
WashBar’s Horse & Hound Shampoo Bar is something I can leave with owners that is beneficial to the animals without the risk of causing harm if misused. So many problems we see can be prevented and WashBar helps to ease skin conditions, prevent parasites as well as clean both animal and gear such as saddle blankets and harness. The other bonus is that it makes my luggage smell nice and I always have soap on hand when staying in some fairly dodgy areas!
I am so happy to be on board as part of the WashBar team. I already use their products for everything from preparing for competition, travel and animal aid work. But I am incredibly excited to be partnering with them for many more future adventures and activities to come.”
Chelsea is a dog trainer extraordinaire.
Agility is her speciality and she ownstrains, handles and competes with her team of 11 working Border Collies, who make up Team Cliffhanger. Chelsea’s dogs are one of the top agility teams in the country having qualified:
She won Wonder Dogs in 2005, performed at Coca-Cola Christmas in The Park. She made it into the final of New Zealand’s Got Talent TV show in 2008.
In May 2010 Chelsea flew to England to takepart in the IFCS World Agility Championships she borrowed Moss – a dog who hadn’t made it into the Great Britain team. They had three days to get to know each other before the competition. “Against all odds, Moss and I got it all together and won Gold in the Individual Jumping and became World Champions.” A feat never before achieved with a borrowed dog.
Chelsea uses Original WashBar Soap for Dogs on all her dogs and wouldn’t go anywhere without a tin of WashBar Paw Balm.
“All the WashBar products smell amazing, lather up and wash out really easily (which a lot of shampoos don’t tend to) and make for such a shiny, soft, beautiful coat. Whether you want to start from the beginning and wash your dog or just give him a quick clean up and make him smell nice, WashBar has it covered! And all their products are natural and environmentally friendly as well – I’d never go back to using anything else!”
Stonehaven Sporthorses
Not that we’re into labels, but Anna is something of a superwoman in our eyes.
She owns and runs Stonehaven Sporthorses based just out of Blenheim in the South Island where she’s a full-time equestrian rider, competitor, coach, trainer, producer of young horses, stud master and mentor.
Not to mention an accomplished Prix St George dressage rider, show jumper, show hunter and has previously evented to CCI** level.
When she’s not wrangling horses, she is a busy mother to two under 5 year olds – George and Lucy.
See why we think she wears tights and a cape?! Here’s what she has to say about her favourite (and most valued) WashBar product – her Horse & Hound Shampoo Bar.
“It’s used all year round as it is an integral part of our day to day grooming regime – whether to keep the mud fever at bay or the sand flies in summer!”
“Walk the Line used to suffer extremely bad mud fever every winter, but since using WashBar’s Horse & Hound Shampoo Bar in our weekly grooming regime during winter we have said good bye to mud fever. WashBar is easy to use, we know that the horses’ are not only getting an excellent deep clean but also are protected from skin ailments and insects with the essential oils and also they come out all shiny!”
